Mini Master in Early Childhood Care and Education
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this course is to learn about the basic developmental stages of children and how to apply this information appropriately to instruction and curriculum development in practical settings.
This program encompasses both coursework and the session practices. It involves the transformation of professional practice to knowledge that makes a significant contribution in latest education methodologies.
OBJECTIVES
Recognize characteristics of an effective early childhood educator and effective early childhood program.
Demonstrate knowledge of child development, characteristics of the young child, and developmentally appropriate practices. To gain experience in designing curriculum and lesson planning.
Show knowledge of the history of early childhood education and its impact on current practices in the field.
Identify observation, screening, and assessment techniques and demonstrate competencies in observation techniques, synthesis, and analysis by observing in diverse early childhood programs and analyzing information gathered with respect to the role and influence of culture, linguistic, and ability diversity.
